Asela graduated from the University of Auckland in 2009. Since graduating he has worked in both public and private practice in both New Zealand & Australia. He joined Diamond Valley Optical in 2017 and is now the director and the principal optometrist of the practice.
He has a keen interest is managing acute red eyes. He also co-manages a number of glaucoma patients in the practice. Asela also has extensive knowledge in complicated contact lens fits. He has an interest in Keratoconic, corneal grafts & Orthokeratology (dream lenses) hard contact lenses.
He is member of Optometry Association of Australia (OAA), Australian Collage of Optometrists (ACO) and Cornea & Contact Lens Society of Australia (CCLSA). Asela is also an examiner of final year optometry students at both University of Melbourne & University of Auckland optometry departments. He is also involved in charitable organisations such as optometry giving sight and Lions club. He has volunteered his time for a number of local and international charitable missions.
Asela plays cricket in the Templestowe cricket club, but as a father to his son Ashan and daughter Araliya, he doesn’t get out as much as he used to. He finds caring for the sight of people of all ages a truly enjoyable & rewarding experience with enormous satisfaction. He always strives for excellence and a holistic approach to optometry.
