Asela graduated from the University of Auckland in 2009. Since graduating he has worked in private practice in both New Zealand and Australia. He joined Diamond Valley Optical in 2017 and is now the principal optometrist at the practice.
He has a keen interest in managing acute red eyes. He also co-manages number of Glaucoma patients. Asela has an extensive knowledge in complex contact lens fits including Keratoconus, corneal grafts and Ortho-K. He is also a behavioural optometrist and practice full scope children’s vision checks.
He is a member of Optometry Association of Australia (OAA), Australian Collage of Behavioural Optometrists (ACBO) and Orthokeratology Society of Oceania (OSO). He is also a regular contributor to the final year Optometry training program at the University of Melbourne. He has volunteered for charitable missions in the past run by optometry giving sight & Lions club.
When he is not at the practice he is a family man and has two children. Caring for the sight of people is a rewarding experience with enormous satisfaction. He always strives for excellence and a holistic approach to eye care.
